Social Media for Restaurants: Menu Posts, Reels and a 4-Week Plan
Social media management for restaurants is the regular, appetizing posting of a restaurant's or cafe's menu, daily specials, atmosphere and events, mainly on Instagram, to bring in bookings, takeout orders and repeat visits; Duyuro handles the caption, event graphic, scheduling and comment reply steps in one panel.
What does restaurant social media management cover?
Restaurant social media comes down to four jobs: showing the menu and daily specials, telling the kitchen and service story in short videos, announcing events and seasonal menus, and answering comments and booking questions quickly. The measure is not likes. It is full tables on the weekend, takeout orders and guests who say they saw your post.
Your kitchen produces content every day. The real problem is that posting gets forgotten during service. The most useful habit is to shoot before service and to publish before the rush: around 11:00 for lunch and around 17:30 for dinner, in your own time zone. If you run locations in more than one city, or in London and Dubai, schedule each account for its own local clock.
How do you structure a restaurant Reel?
Open the first three seconds with appetite: meat hitting the grill, steam rising from a pan, milk poured into a cup. Opening with a logo or an empty dining room loses viewers. Show your real team preparing the dish in the middle and end with the plate arriving at the table and the first bite. Keep the sound on.
0 to 3 seconds: the flavor moment
Close-up sizzle, steam or pour. Keep the sound on; the sizzle and the cutlery carry the video.
3 to 10 seconds: the prep
The chef's hands chopping and plating. Real kitchen, real team; nothing that looks like stock footage.
10 to 15 seconds: arrival at the table
The plate set down and a shared first bite. The proof is a real reaction to the food.
Caption and call to action
One verb, such as "Book your table" or "Order now". Address and hours go in the caption and bio, not as text inside the video.
Attach the vertical video you shot on your phone to a post in Duyuro and schedule it as a Reel; AI writes the caption and hashtags. For a campaign, the AI ad video feature plans the scenes and renders a product video that you can publish to your YouTube channel.
How should a restaurant use Instagram Stories?
Stories are for information too short-lived for the feed: today's soup, a dessert that sold out, tables still free tonight, a rainy-day delivery reminder. Duyuro does not publish Instagram Stories today, so prepare the image and short text in Duyuro, post the Story from the Instagram app, and keep scheduling your feed posts and Reels in Duyuro.
- Before lunch: a single photo titled "In the kitchen today".
- Around 18:00: tables left tonight or a booking reminder.
- After service: reshare a guest's post that tags you, with their permission.
- Highlights: Menu, Brunch, Events, Find us. New guests check these before anything else.
What do good restaurant social media posts look like?
A good restaurant caption names the dish or the moment in the first line, describes taste, smell or texture in the second and ends with one clear call to action. The examples below leave out prices, discounts and opening hours so you can add your own. Each visual brief is a scene you can shoot on a phone in minutes.
The chef's name (Marco), days and times below are placeholders. Replace them with your own details.
The first pumpkin soup of the season is on. Roasted with sage, finished with brown butter and served with warm sourdough. Every lunch service until it runs out.

What does a 4-week restaurant content calendar look like?
Build the calendar around the season and the rhythm of the week. Early in the week, post the daily special and lunch menu; midweek, a kitchen Reel; Thursday and Friday, the weekend announcement. In autumn, soups and slow cooking lead into holiday party bookings. The plan below is an example for October and November.
| Gün | Platform | Format | Konu |
|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 Monday | Single image | First soup on the autumn menu | |
| Week 1 Wednesday | Reel | 15 seconds at the grill, opening on the sizzle | |
| Week 1 Thursday | Event graphic | Weekend brunch and booking reminder | |
| Week 2 Tuesday | Single image | Chef's special with seasonal vegetables | |
| Week 2 Thursday | Single image | Office and group lunch ordering | |
| Week 2 Friday | Event graphic | Friday live music or game night | |
| Week 3 Monday | Single image | Meet the team: who runs the kitchen | |
| Week 3 Wednesday | Reel | From dough to oven: pizza or bread | |
| Week 3 Saturday | Single image | Brunch table, overhead shot | |
| Week 4 Tuesday | Single image | FAQ: do you have vegetarian or gluten-free options? | |
| Week 4 Thursday | Event graphic | Holiday party and group bookings now open | |
| Week 4 Sunday | Review | Check | Note the post with the most saves and booking messages |
Which advertising rules should restaurants check?
Two topics catch restaurants most often. Alcohol: in the UK, the CAP Code has a full section on alcohol ads, covering appeal to under-18s and promotions such as happy hours. Influencers: if you give a creator a free meal for a post, the US FTC and the UK CAP Code both expect the ad to be clearly identifiable.
- UK alcohol: CAP Code section 18 says ads should not be likely to appeal particularly to people under 18 (rule 18.14), people shown drinking must neither be nor seem to be under 25 (18.16), and promotions must not encourage excessive drinking (18.10). Check the section before posting drinks offers.
- UK influencer posts: CAP Code rule 2.1 says marketing communications must be obviously identifiable as such.
- US influencer posts: the FTC's Endorsement Guides Q&A says a material connection, such as a free meal or payment, should be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, not hidden in a comment.
- UAE: rules on alcohol and food advertising depend on the emirate and your licence. Check with your licensing authority before posting drinks.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use AI images for food photos?
Not for dishes on your menu. Guests compare the plate with the picture, and a mismatch costs trust. Shoot the dish yourself on a phone and let Duyuro write the caption and hashtags. AI images work well for posts that do not show a specific plate, such as atmosphere, the season or an event announcement.
How often should a restaurant post on Instagram?
Three to four feed posts or Reels a week plus daily Stories is a workable rhythm for most independent restaurants. Consistency matters more than volume. Prepare the week's posts on a quiet morning, schedule them for just before lunch and dinner, and use Stories for anything that changes daily.
How should we reply to negative reviews and comments?
Reply the same day, briefly and without getting defensive: an apology, a concrete fix and a way to reach you. Move detailed complaints to private messages. If you use the AI Comment Reply Assistant, add words like "cold", "late" or "refund" to the blocked keyword list so those comments wait for a person to answer.
Should a Dubai restaurant post in Arabic and English?
For most restaurants serving a mixed Gulf audience, yes for key posts such as events, Ramadan and Eid menus, and opening announcements. Write one caption with both languages or post two versions. Have a native speaker check the Arabic. Duyuro's dubbing can turn a promo video into Arabic and 31 other languages.
What results should a restaurant track?
Look at saves, shares, profile visits and booking messages more than likes. Ask guests who book how they found you. Once a month, pick the three best posts and repeat their format, and change the time or topic of the weakest ones. Duyuro's basic analytics show post performance without spending credits.
